Twice this spring, Patterson Park Public Charter School will be doing something slightly different than normal. On April 9th and again on May 14th, from 8:30 until lunchtime, the school will be shutting down all unnecessary appliances and be turning off every light off for two Power Down Days.
These days help raise awareness about how much energy is used during a regular school day. If the average PPPCS hallway contains thirty fluorescent lights the school could save approximately 5 kWh before lunchtime in just that hallway by turning off the power!
BEC and PPPCS encourage you to have your own Power Down Day at your home or office to see how much energy you really use!
